This mildly venomous, rear-fanged Madagascan Hognose snake rarely bites people. It feeds on small mammals and amphibians, but if it is threatened, it will flatten its neck (like a Cobra) and hiss loudly. It shelters in burrows in grassland areas on the island of Madagascar and grows up to 5 feet (152 cm) in length.
