The Red-Eared Terrapin got its name because of the broad, red strip that runs along the side of their head. Because they
are gentle and attractive creatures, they make for a popular pet. Unfortunately, the seldom reach maturity in captivity
because they do not recieve the vitamins and minerals they need. They live in ponds and rivers in the U.S., but frequently
climb out of water to bask, often on logs where they may pile up several deep.
